Continents review
A free world-generation datapack for players who want separated landmasses and broad oceans.

Continents changes how Minecraft Java Edition lays out Overworld landmasses. Instead of a broad terrain overhaul, it creates continents of varying sizes and shapes, with large oceans separating them and smaller islands in between. It is aimed at players who want exploration to feel organized around distinct landmasses, whether playing in singleplayer or on a server. The project says spawn is guaranteed on a medium-sized continent averaging around 1,000 blocks in size, giving players a starting point within that layout rather than in an ocean or on a small island.
The datapack is free and distributed as a data pack, with support for Data Pack, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Its listed Minecraft versions run from 1.18.2 and the 1.19.x through 1.21.x series to 26.1.x, 26.2 and 26.3. Compatibility with most world-generation datapacks, including Terralith, makes it a possible fit for worlds that add other generation changes. Large Biomes is also named as an integration, though the project notes a compatibility caveat when similar datapacks are installed. That makes it worth checking the intended combination before starting a long-running world.
Its scope is deliberately focused: Continents adjusts the scale and spacing of land, but does not add biomes or generate other dimensions. Choose it if separated continents and ocean crossings are the main goal, especially for a shared server or a singleplayer exploration world. Players seeking deeper terrain customization, added biomes, or changes beyond the Overworld should look for a broader world-generation option instead. The free plan and multiple loader options keep the basic choice straightforward, while the limited scope sets a clear boundary on what it changes.
