coherence is a multiplayer networking SDK and hosting platform for Unity game developers. It is designed for projects ranging from small multiplayer games to persistent virtual worlds, with tools for state replication, authority management, rooms, worlds, lobbies, matchmaking, persistence, and network optimization. Games can target Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, WebGL, and other Unity-supported platforms. Its hybrid networking model supports UDP, TCP fallback, and WebRTC transports.
The feature set covers both core multiplayer infrastructure and more specialized networking needs. Developers can choose client, server, or distributed authority models, then use client-side prediction, experimental rollback networking, Areas of Interest, compression, and a network profiler. Persistence and key-value storage support longer-lived game states, while rooms and persistent Worlds provide structures for session-based and ongoing environments. Integrations with Steam Networking, Epic Online Services, Azure PlayFab, and Steam Datagram Relay improve fit with common multiplayer services.
Pricing separates development-tool subscriptions from hosting costs. The Starter plan is free and includes full access to development tools, unlimited projects, unlimited CCU, and community support for solo developers and small teams with less than $200k in revenue or funding. The Pro plan costs $1,000 per studio per month or $8,000 per studio per year, includes the same core development-tool access, unlimited projects, and unlimited CCU, and adds tailored onboarding for studios with over $200k in revenue or funding. Hosting is handled separately through credits or revenue-share models. coherence suits studios that need managed networking options and broad multiplayer systems; teams seeking a Unity-focused SDK with a lower-cost paid entry point may prefer an alternative.
