CLOVA Voice review
A developer-focused voice API with broad language and control options, but no free plan or reusable audio.

CLOVA Voice is an API-based text-to-speech service from NAVER Cloud Corp. It is designed for developers and organizations adding synthesized speech to web products, software, hardware, and other services. Real-time API calls generate speech in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Taiwanese, with 100 voice options and controls for volume, speed, pitch, and emotion. The service supports commercial use and is available through web and API access.
The published Premium plan includes a real-time speech synthesis API and 1,000,000 characters. Additional usage is charged per 1,000 characters. The plan structure fits teams that need a paid API for ongoing product or content workflows, while the lack of a free plan makes it less suitable for casual experimentation or early evaluation. Live API use covers content creation and product or service integration, and the service supports both classic and VPC cloud environments.
CLOVA Voice stands out for multilingual coverage, expressive controls, and real-time delivery rather than for downloadable audio workflows. MP3 and WAV are supported as output formats, but generated audio must be used through live API calls; downloading, saving, editing, reusing, or reselling generated files is not permitted under the usage policy. Teams that need embedded, multilingual voice synthesis should consider it, especially when API delivery and VPC support fit their architecture. Choose an alternative if reusable audio assets, voice cloning, or ready-made integrations are central requirements.
