Clio Payments is a payment processing solution for law firms using Clio Manage. It supports online and in-person card payments, eCheck and direct ACH payments, digital wallets, and trust-account transactions. Firms can accept payments through client portals, websites, text messages, email, and payment requests. Its legal focus includes trust-account and IOLTA-compliant workflows, with separation of earned and unearned funds and protection of trust accounts from processing fees and chargebacks. It is designed for firms that want billing and collections connected to their Clio environment rather than a separate payment system.

The strongest fit is its connection to Clio Manage and accounting workflows. Payments can be associated automatically with bills and matters, while accounting-platform synchronization, transaction reporting, notifications, and reconciliation support help connect collection activity to financial administration. Automated payment plans, recurring charges, autocharge, stored payment methods, and bill reminders also support firms that collect on scheduled or ongoing arrangements. The published plans pair Clio Manage with different capabilities: Starter includes legal accounting and trust and operating account reconciliation; Core adds a secure client portal; Signature adds custom roles and permissions; and Elite includes Clio Grow.

Clio Payments also offers a seven-day trial and supports web, iOS, and Android access. Country-specific availability matters: Clio documents direct ACH and eCheck for US customers, while Canadian customers are documented for card and debit payments. Firms already using Clio Manage and needing trust-account handling, multi-channel payment requests, or automated collection workflows should consider it. Firms seeking a payment processor independent of Clio Manage, or requiring the same payment methods across countries, should compare alternatives with a broader standalone focus.
