Clear Books is cloud bookkeeping and accounting software for UK sole traders, landlords, limited companies, partnerships, charities and accountants. It combines income and expense recording, bank feeds, transaction matching, invoicing, receipt and bill capture, reporting, stock tracking, Making Tax Digital submissions and accountant collaboration. Access is available through a web application, iOS and Android apps, with API access for integrations.

The pricing structure covers several business types. Sole Trader Free, Property Free and Foreign Property Free include HMRC recognition, MTD Income Tax quarterly updates, year-end filing, income and expense recording, basic reports and accountant invitations. The £5-per-month Sole Trader, Property and Foreign Property plans add receipt and bill scanning, automated bank-feed transaction recording, business reporting and accountant tools, with property-focused tracking in the relevant plans. Sole Trader Plus costs £15 per month and adds MTD VAT reporting, the flat-rate scheme and VAT Domestic Reverse Charge. The Small plan costs £16 per month and adds sales and purchase tracking, a full reporting suite, integrations and API access, plus user permissions. Prices are shown plus VAT, and the published plans include a 30-day paid-plan trial.

Its strongest fit is for UK businesses that want bookkeeping, filing and accountant access in one product, particularly sole traders and property owners choosing between free and paid workflows. Bank feeds import transactions several times daily, while bank explanations support automated invoice and bill matching. Mobile invoicing, expenses and receipt capture extend the workflow beyond the web app, and integrations include Stripe, Auto Entry and iPages. Businesses should choose a paid tier when they need scanning, automated transaction recording, invoicing, broader reporting or VAT features; those needing only basic Income Tax recording may find a free plan sufficient.
