Civica Catering Management is a cloud-based catering operations platform for contract caterers, local authorities, schools, multi-academy trusts, healthcare providers and other foodservice organisations. It brings menu and recipe management, dynamic menu planning, procurement, stock control, paperless kitchen workflows, allergen and nutrition tracking, and reporting into one system. Multi-site operations, mobile access, pre-ordering, cashless payments and electronic meal ordering are also part of its wider capability set. The strongest fit is for institutional and public-sector teams coordinating foodservice across multiple locations.

Pricing follows a contact-sales model, with buyers directed toward a demo rather than plan-by-plan purchase options. That structure suits organisations with more involved procurement requirements, but gives smaller operators less immediate visibility into costs. The platform connects with EPOS, finance and MIS systems, EDI suppliers, and Civica Cashless Catering. These integrations support a wider operational environment in which procurement, financial processes, supplier activity, point-of-sale functions and meal ordering need to work together.

Civica’s depth is in the operational side of catering: centralised purchasing, automated stock tracking and replenishment, kitchen workflows, menu planning, and allergen and nutrition control. Financial, operational and KPI reporting adds oversight for teams managing service performance across sites. It is less suited to caterers primarily looking for event proposal management, contracts, staffing coordination and event logistics. Choose Civica when institutional foodservice control, nutrition oversight and procurement are the priority; consider a more event-focused product when planning and delivering individual catered events is the core requirement.

Civica Catering Management pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Centralises menus, recipes, procurement, suppliers, stock and replenishment
    • Tracks allergens and nutrition across menu and recipe workflows
    • Connects with EPOS, finance, MIS and EDI supplier systems
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing uses a contact-sales model rather than published plan tiers
    • Its documented focus is foodservice operations, not event management
    • The broad feature set may exceed the needs of small catering operators
