CharityFinancials is accounting software for UK charities, CIOs, churches and faith organisations, as well as the accountants who support them. Its focus is fund and project accounting: it tracks restricted, unrestricted, designated and endowment funds, and supports project and programme costing with budgets and variance reporting. That makes it relevant to organisations that need to report how funds are allocated rather than manage only general bookkeeping.

Reporting is a notable part of the product. It provides SORP-aligned SOFA, Income & Expenditure, Balance Sheet and trial-balance reports, alongside a statutory accounts module with SORP notes and a trustees’ annual report. Budgets and budget-versus-actual reporting help connect planning with financial reporting, while audit trails and live fund balances support oversight. Grant, donor, customer and supplier management are also included. Charities that need these accounting and reporting workflows in one product may find its scope a closer fit than a general-purpose accounting tool.

The Standard plan includes multi-fund accounting, budgeting, SORP-aligned reports, bank-statement imports and MTD VAT preparation and submission workflows. Bank transactions come in through CSV or Excel imports, with reconciliation available; HMRC is the named integration. The platform is web-based. One important qualification is that direct MTD VAT submission is pending HMRC software recognition, so organisations should check that status against their filing needs. CharityFinancials suits UK charities prioritising fund accounting, SORP reporting and grant workflows; organisations seeking a desktop platform or a different accounting focus should compare alternatives.
