CCS64 is a Commodore 64 emulator for PC, aimed at users who want more than basic game playback. It emulates the C64 keyboard and regional systems, up to four 1541 disk drives, the C2N cassette recorder, cartridges, joysticks, paddles, mouse input and other expansion hardware. The current downloads page lists Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11 builds in 32-bit and 64-bit versions, while the category coverage includes Windows, DOS, Linux and Unix.

Its strongest differentiator is the depth of its debugging and replay toolkit. The machine-code monitor supports forward and backward tracing, while replay, pause, reverse playback and time-travel debugging provide ways to inspect and revisit program behavior. CCS64 also records audio as WAV and audio/video as AVI. Support for PRG, P00, T64, TAP, D64, G41, G64 and CRT image files gives it broad coverage across common C64 software formats. These capabilities make it a strong fit for developers, preservation-focused users and enthusiasts investigating original software rather than only launching games.

CCS64 also supports internet multiplayer through the Kaillera client, plus HardSID hardware support for users with compatible audio setups. The shareware model allows free use and copying, with registration for regular users. Buyers should choose CCS64 if netplay, hardware emulation and detailed debugging matter more than a streamlined modern interface. It is less suitable for users who want a current multi-platform release spanning every platform listed in the category coverage, or who prefer documentation aligned exactly with the newest download version.
