CaseDesk is local-first legal case management software for licensed attorneys and law firms. It brings matters, deadlines, docket information, documents, conflicts, legal references, templates, evidence, billing, and case analysis into one workspace. Its rules-based deadline engine calculates dates from jurisdiction-specific rules and cites the governing authority. The desktop application runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, while a companion phone app supports iOS and Android.

Pricing is structured around a time-limited Free beta and CaseDesk Pro. The beta requires no credit card but provides read-only access after the beta period, which lasts 90 days from first run. CaseDesk Pro costs $290 per attorney per year when billed annually or $29 per attorney per month when billed monthly. Both paid options remove the beta expiry and include priority support, with optional end-to-end-encrypted Cloud Sync. Integrations cover Gmail, Outlook and Microsoft 365, Box, OneDrive, Google Drive, QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Twilio SMS, CourtListener, PACER RSS, audio transcription, Anthropic, OpenAI, local AI models, and Claude Code / MCP.

The strongest fit is for firms that want deadline calculation alongside matter management, OCR, automatic document classification, substantive legal templates, conflict snapshots, email synchronization, and local AI drafting and case analysis. PACER RSS synchronization works per matter, and the product provides court and case-search links for assigned courts. CaseDesk describes federal e-filing and forms, but its documented scope does not establish a direct court e-filing integration. Firms primarily seeking deep, verified docket monitoring may prefer a more specialized docketing product, while firms seeking a broader local-first legal workspace should find the feature mix more suitable.

CaseDesk pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Rules-based deadlines cite jurisdiction-specific governing statutes.
    • Runs across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
    • Combines documents, conflicts, email, billing, and case analysis.
  • Where it doesn't
    • The beta is time-limited rather than a perpetual free plan.
    • Docket depth may not suit firms focused on pure docketing.
    • External calendar synchronization is not clearly documented.
