CarbonHRM is HR, payroll, and reporting software for churches, ministries, and nonprofit organizations. It covers pay-run creation, review, submission, pay stubs, NACHA files, journal entries, employee records, timekeeping, leave management, and approvals. Its church-specific payroll support includes clergy housing allowance, 403(b) plans, and Form 4361 handling, making it a strong fit for organizations with clergy compensation requirements and nonprofit payroll processes.

The payroll workflow combines federal, state, and local tax calculations through the Symmetry Tax Engine with configurable pay profiles, separate schedules, and pay rules. NACHA direct deposit supports multi-account employee splits, while reporting includes W-2, 1099-NEC, 1095-C, Form 941, and certain state and local filings. Employee profiles can hold compensation, deductions, tax elections, and year-end documents. Mobile access extends to pay history, tax documents, time off, notifications, and approvals, giving employees and managers access through web and iOS platforms.

CarbonHRM also connects payroll and finance workflows through accounting journal exports with campus and department distribution. Integrations include Sage Intacct, Rock RMS, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Shelby Financials, Planning Center, and Breeze ChMS, although some listed connections are coming soon or in active build. Pricing is contact-based rather than published by plan, so organizations should speak with sales to evaluate fit and cost. Churches seeking specialized clergy and nonprofit payroll handling should shortlist CarbonHRM; organizations wanting transparent package pricing or a broader general-purpose payroll focus may prefer an alternative.
