Carbon Accounting AI classifies accounts-payable and other business records into GHG Protocol Scopes 1, 2 and 3 categories. It is aimed at finance teams building emissions ledgers from spend data, with support for spend-based, activity-based and supplier-specific methods. Core workflows include AP and ERP CSV import, per-line confidence scores, emission-factor region and basis selection, evidence links, human review, and exports for ledgers, totals and disclosure notes. A live browser demo is available without signup.

The Ledger plan costs $312 per workspace per month with annual billing or $390 with monthly billing, and covers one legal entity, Scope 1 and 2 plus spend-based Scope 3 screening, classification, evidence links and CSV/XLSX exports. Compliance costs $1,032 annually billed monthly or $1,290 monthly, adding activity-based factors, supplier data requests, CSRD ESRS E1, CBAM and ISSB IFRS S2 report packs, reduction targets and an audit log. Assurance costs $3,120 annually billed monthly or $3,900 monthly, adding multi-entity consolidation, methodology change history, restatement handling and read-only evidence access for assurance providers. Enterprise adds SSO/SAML, SCIM, custom roles, approval workflows, EU data residency and custom emission-factor sets.

Its strongest fit is a finance-led carbon accounting process that needs traceability from postings to source lines and a recorded review trail. The tier structure also gives organizations a path from initial screening to supplier engagement, disclosure work and assurance support. However, the vendor states that its demo’s spend-based screening is not audit-grade, so teams requiring assurance should evaluate the Compliance or Assurance capabilities rather than treat basic screening as a final inventory. Choose Carbon Accounting AI for structured Scope 1–3 classification and evidence management; consider an alternative if you need a free plan, non-web access or a lower starting price.
