c-SPOT review
A focused, self-hosted toolkit for planning, presenting, and coordinating church services.

c-SPOT is a free, open-source web application for small churches planning Sunday services, midweek services, and other events. It runs on a church's own web host and brings service orders, teams, resources, songs, lyrics, chords, sheet music, slides, and embedded videos into one planning environment. Participants can view or modify service information according to assigned roles, making it suited to churches with technical staff or volunteers who want control over deployment and customization.
The strongest fit is its connection between planning and presentation. Teams can create orders of service, manage rooms and devices, and present songs and service items as projector slideshows. Local caching supports offline slideshow presentation, while another device can control presentations, including through Chromecast-connected devices. Support for lyrics, chords, and sheet music in OnSong format adds practical value for music teams, while CCLI usage tracking and SongSelect linking support reporting and song management.
c-SPOT also covers coordination through staff and team roles, role-based permissions, and email or internal messaging between users. Its open-source model allows churches to clone, customize, and run the application on their own hosting, but that approach is most appropriate for teams comfortable managing a web application. Churches seeking a focused system for service planning, presentation, and participant access should consider c-SPOT. Organizations prioritizing a managed hosted service or wider event-operations scope should look for a different fit.
