Braintree ACH Direct Debit review
A focused ACH option for eligible U.S. merchants processing in USD.

Braintree ACH Direct Debit lets eligible U.S. merchants accept customer payments by debiting bank accounts through the ACH network. It is aimed at businesses that need U.S. ACH processing within a Braintree integration, particularly those handling payments in U.S. dollars. This is a focused payment-method integration rather than a standalone payment-facilitation platform, so it suits ACH-specific requirements better than businesses seeking a broad marketplace or multi-method facilitation product.
Pricing is organized around two processing options. Standard ACH network processing starts at $0.75 per transaction, with the maximum per-transaction fee capped at 5.00 USD. Same-day ACH network processing provides a same-day ACH processing window. The feature set goes beyond basic debit initiation: businesses can use bank-account tokenization and vaulting, while verification options include network checks, micro-transfers, independent verification, and instant bank-account verification. That range can support different account-validation approaches, although the product remains centered on ACH rather than a wider payment-method suite.
Integration is available across web and API environments through the Braintree JavaScript v3 SDK, Braintree server-side SDKs, and the Braintree GraphQL API. ACH transaction processing is supported through client and server SDKs, but implementation requires a custom integration and is not available in Braintree’s Drop-in UI. Businesses should choose Braintree ACH Direct Debit when they need verified U.S. bank-account payments within Braintree Direct and can support a custom build. Businesses looking for a standalone payment-facilitation platform, broader marketplace tooling, or a Drop-in-based setup should consider an alternative.
