brainCloud is a cloud-based backend-as-a-service platform for game developers, studios, publishers, educational institutions, and enterprises. It combines authentication, player accounts, cloud data, multiplayer networking, matchmaking, LiveOps, analytics, messaging, leaderboards, tournaments, cloud code, hosting, and player support tools. Its client libraries and design portal cover building, testing, operating, and supporting games and other online experiences across web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. The product is aimed at teams that want a broad backend rather than separate services for core online game systems.

Pricing offers a free Development plan with core features, 100 daily active users, 1,000 accounts, and 10 CCx. Development Plus costs $5 per month and adds all features including custom entities and hosting, with 200 daily active users, 2,000 accounts, and 20 CCx. Paid usage tiers range from Lite at $15 per month for 1 million API calls to Lite Plus at $25, Standard at $30, Standard Plus at $50, Business at $99, and Business Plus at $199 per month. These tiers increase API allowances and, in Plus plans, add capabilities such as RTT, custom entities, hosting, or higher CCx limits. Usage charges may apply beyond plan allowances.

The feature breadth is the main reason to consider brainCloud. It supports real-time, asynchronous, and offline multiplayer; online and offline matchmaking; lobbies; relay servers; room-server hosting; scheduled and batch JavaScript cloud scripts; and LiveOps campaigns, promotions, segments, and player support. Integrations include Amazon GameLift, Apache Kafka, SAML, Segment, SendGrid, Slack, and WebPurify. Public BaaS is cloud-hosted, while fully managed private instances can run in a customer's cloud environment. Choose brainCloud for a broad, flexible backend with a low entry price; consider a narrower service when only a small subset of these systems is needed.
