Bid Beacon is an online silent-auction platform for charities, nonprofits, schools, sports teams, event planners, and private events. Organizers can create branded auction pages, add items and guests, accept bids and donations, sell tickets, collect payments, and manage auction results. Administration is browser-based, while bidders can participate through iOS and Android apps. That makes the product a fit for small online auctions and in-person events that need mobile bidding, printed item sheets, or both.

Its auction feature set is the main reason to consider it. Organizers can use proxy bidding, maximum bidding, bidding extensions, and Quick Extend controls, while donation items and fundraising-goal tracking support broader event objectives. Ticketed access, invoice and receipt generation, QR-code item sheets, and live video item promotion extend the workflow beyond basic bidding. Branded pages can include logos, banners, themes, and custom access links. Items can also be imported in batches of up to 600, which can reduce preparation effort for larger catalogs.

The pricing structure is centered on two plans. Demo Auction is free and is intended for testing the platform before creating a full auction. Full Auction includes unlimited guests, items, images, and administrator roles, along with Stripe Connect payments, custom branding, ticketed access, and video item promotion. The Full Auction is charged through a transaction-based platform fee rather than a monthly subscription, while CommuniBee subscription pricing is separate. Bid Beacon should suit organizations prioritizing auction execution and mobile participation; teams needing deeper reporting or broader donor-management capabilities may prefer a fuller fundraising suite.

Bid Beacon pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Free Demo Auction for evaluating the platform
    • Proxy bidding, extensions, tickets, payments, and receipts
    • QR item sheets and mobile bidding for in-person events
  • Where it doesn't
    • Reporting is narrower than a full fundraising suite
    • Donor-management coverage is limited
    • The Full Auction uses a transaction-based platform fee
