BHIM is a mobile app for sending and requesting payments through India’s Unified Payments Interface. It suits people who want to make UPI payments from linked bank accounts, pay merchants, or handle utility bills in one app. Available for Android and iOS, it supports payments to UPI IDs and bank accounts as well as QR-code scanning. It is a focused option for individual payment needs rather than a wallet or a broader business payment system.
Its payment features cover common transfer and account tasks. Users can request money from other UPI users, pay merchants that accept UPI, and pay utility bills through BHARAT BILLPAY. BHIM also supports linking and switching between multiple bank accounts, setting or changing a UPI PIN, and checking an account balance. UPI Circle lets a user authorize another person to make payments. Transaction history can be viewed, filtered and downloaded, while failed or pending transactions can be disputed. That mix makes BHIM useful for routine UPI activity and follow-up, though its scope remains centered on bank-linked UPI payments.
BHIM is free to register, and users are not charged for transactions, according to the app’s published information. Bank charges may still apply, so free use does not necessarily mean every related banking cost is waived. Choose BHIM if you want a mobile UPI app with transfers, QR payments, bills, account controls and dispute handling. It is a less suitable fit if you specifically need a wallet or a non-mobile deployment. The published information also describes use outside India for local accounts, but not cross-border transfers; treat BHIM as an option for UPI payments rather than international remittance.
