Our verdict on BeFrugal

BeFrugal is a shopping savings service for consumers who want cashback offers, coupons and deals while shopping online. Members browse offers on its website and click through to participating retailers to earn cash back on eligible purchases. The free membership also includes access to coupons and deals, making the service a fit for shoppers seeking savings at checkout rather than a dedicated way to compare or track product prices.

Its browser extension adds two practical features: cash-back alerts and automatic coupon-code application at checkout. BeFrugal also provides mobile apps for iOS and Android, alongside its web service and extension. Beyond purchases, members can earn rewards through activities such as surveys, mobile games and grocery receipt uploads. These options broaden the ways to engage with the service, though the central shopping benefit remains tied to offers and eligible purchases at participating online retailers.

According to the published membership description, the service is free and provides access to cash-back offers, coupons and deals. Cash-back payments can be received through PayPal, check, direct deposit, Venmo, Zelle and gift cards. Support channels include email, chat and documentation. BeFrugal is a stronger fit for deal-seeking shoppers who value checkout coupons and a choice of payout methods; shoppers whose main need is price history, price comparison or in-store shopping should look for a tool built around those tasks. The company says it began in 2009 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
