Our verdict on BB.excite Mail
BB.excite Mail is a paid personal email service from Excite Japan Co., Ltd. for individual users in Japan, particularly people already using BB.excite communications services. It combines browser-based webmail with POP or IMAP configuration for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android email clients. Each mailbox provides 1 GB of storage and supports messages up to 25 MB. Users can also create up to eight additional Family Mail addresses and customize usernames and subdomains within BB.excite address formats.
Pricing depends on the associated service. The BB.excite communications-service bundle is listed at 308 JPY per month including tax, while the general BB.excite Mail price is 418 JPY per month including tax. Both listed plans highlight one email address. The mailbox features include spam filtering, virus scanning, forwarding and conditional forwarding rules, auto-replies, receipt notifications, and quarantine settings. These options cover the core needs of a personal mailbox without extending into a broader productivity suite. The bundled price is the more relevant option for eligible BB.excite subscribers; the general price suits users who specifically want the standalone mail service.
Availability is the key consideration. The vendor states that all new applications have been suspended since August 17, 2023, and that reopening is undecided, while existing-user help and webmail pages remain available. Support channels include email, phone, and documentation. Existing BB.excite users who need a straightforward mailbox with client access and family addresses should find the feature set aligned with basic personal communication. People seeking to open a new account should not choose BB.excite Mail while applications remain suspended, and users who need more than 1 GB of storage should look elsewhere.
