Authenticator Pro review
A focused, free Android OTP app with encrypted backups and offline access.

Authenticator Pro was a free, open-source two-factor authentication app for Android and Wear OS. It generated TOTP and HOTP codes and supported SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 algorithms. Account setup could be handled through QR codes, while categories, custom icons, account renaming, and dark mode helped organize the account list. Offline operation made it suitable for users who want code generation without depending on an active connection. Its clearest audience is Android users who value a straightforward, open implementation and do not need a broad multi-platform authenticator service.
The feature set covers the core OTP workflow without adding unnecessary complexity. Encrypted backup and restore provide a way to protect and recover accounts, while the combination of TOTP and HOTP supports more than one common one-time-password format. Wear OS companion support extends access to compatible watches. These capabilities make the app more flexible than a minimal code-only utility, particularly for users who want local organization and an offline-first setup. The product remains focused, however, rather than presenting a wider account-management or integration ecosystem.
Platform scope is the main consideration. Authenticator Pro is positioned around Android and Wear OS, with no documented synchronization or integrations to broaden that experience across other platforms or services. The official successor site states that the app was republished under the name Stratum, so Authenticator Pro is treated as discontinued under its former name. Android users evaluating the former product should therefore consider the successor for the current path, while users seeking a simple open-source OTP app should look for a maintained option with comparable encrypted backup, offline operation, and device support.
