Our verdict on Auslearn
Auslearn is a mobile learning app for Australian Sign Language (Auslan), designed for beginners, students, families, teachers, and people practising between classes. Its course structure combines lessons, video demonstrations by Deaf signers, interactive quizzes with instant feedback, and a searchable dictionary containing 250+ Auslan signs. The app is available on iOS and Android, making it suited to learners who want guided study and short practice sessions on a mobile device.
Practice depth is a central strength. Alongside structured units, Auslearn includes daily practice, review activities, alphabet practice, speed round, and mirror practice. Progress tracking covers lessons and topics, while streaks, XP, achievements, and daily or weekly challenges add habit-focused features. This gives learners several ways to revisit material rather than relying only on a linear lesson path. The dictionary also supports sign lookup when a learner needs a quick reference outside a lesson.
The pricing model combines no-charge introductory content with Auslearn Premium. Three beginner units are available at no charge, while Premium unlocks the remaining units and premium features. The Australian App Store lists Premium at AUD 5.99 and AUD 39.99. Auslearn is a good fit for learners seeking a structured mobile route into Auslan, especially those motivated by progress markers and recurring practice. It is less suitable for people looking for several signed languages, desktop access, or a broader language-learning platform beyond Auslan.
