Our verdict on Auris
Auris is an ear-training app for students, musicians, and schools, available on the web, iOS, and Android. Its exercise library covers interval, scale, chord, inversion, chord-progression, and melodic-dictation recognition. A gradual difficulty curve supports beginners through advanced musicians, while streaks, leaderboards, high scores, and progress statistics add a structured practice element. Schools can use class and student insights alongside targets, exams, and student information features.
The pricing structure is straightforward but varies by access level. The No account option provides limited access, does not save progress, and excludes ranking. The Free plan saves progress and includes top-three ranking, while still offering limited access. The Monthly plan costs €9.99 per month and adds full access, Practice mode, progress tracking, and sounds. The Yearly plan provides the same listed features at €4.99 per month when billed annually. Schools receive full access plus targets, exams, and student information, making that tier more relevant to organized instruction than individual practice.
Auris stands out for breadth within recognition-based ear training rather than for a wider musicianship curriculum. Its combination of chord and progression work, inversions, melodic dictation, and gamified tracking gives learners several ways to build listening skills across web and mobile. The product is a strong fit for budget-conscious students, independent musicians, and schools that want structured practice and class visibility. It is less suitable for learners seeking rhythm training or a broader integrated music-learning ecosystem, and the absence of an identified integration layer may matter to organizations connecting multiple teaching tools.
