Audiokinetic Wwise is interactive audio middleware for game development teams, combining an audio authoring application, runtime sound engine, profiling tools, plug-ins, and game-engine integrations. It supports sound, voice, music, motion, dialogue events, spatial audio, real-time mixing, SoundBanks, streaming, and multi-platform deployment. Wwise fits teams building projects in Unity or Unreal Engine that need detailed control over interactive audio across Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and additional runtime platforms.

Its strongest differentiator is depth. Spatial Audio includes rooms, portals, diffraction, transmission, and propagation, while the interactive music system supports playlists, transitions, switches, and stingers. Teams can manage language-specific dialogue content, generate SoundBanks for multiple platforms, profile audio in real time, and connect external tools through the Wwise Authoring API. That breadth makes Wwise suitable for large productions where audio behavior, localization, streaming, and runtime performance need to be managed together rather than through a narrow sound-effects workflow.

Pricing is structured per title. The Indie plan provides full platform access and unlimited sounds. Pro costs $8,000 per title and adds premium options such as direct engineering support. Premium costs $25,000 per title and includes direct support from Audiokinetic’s audio engineering team. Platinum costs $45,000 per title and adds Audiokinetic-developed premium plug-ins plus a 12-month DLC license. A free plan adds an entry point, while the paid tiers are aimed at productions requiring additional support or premium options. Choose Wwise for maximum audio depth and platform reach; smaller teams with simpler audio needs may prefer a narrower tool.
