AstuteWheel review
Broad planning, modelling and practice workflows for advice teams.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
AstuteWheel is web-based financial planning software for financial advisers, accountants and lawyers. It brings client engagement, financial modelling, scenario analysis, practice workflows and compliance documentation into one platform. Clients can use a secure portal for messaging, document sharing and personal-financial data collection, while advisers can gather information through questionnaires covering financial health, goals, values, budgeting, assets and liabilities. The platform is suited to advice practices that need more than a standalone calculator or client portal.
Its main strength is breadth. AstuteWheel supports goal setting and tracking, advice scoping, cash-flow comparisons, strategy stress testing, and calculators covering income and tax, investments, debt, insurance, retirement and estate planning. The adviser plans separate these capabilities: Engage Adviser focuses on client engagement, Advise Adviser adds advice delivery and modelling calculators, and Manage Adviser adds practice management alongside those capabilities. Improve Practice is focused on business improvement tools. This structure gives practices room to match the product to their workflow, while the Engage tier is not intended for teams that need built-in modelling.
AstuteWheel also extends beyond client-facing planning into workflow and practice operations, with tasks, CRM dashboards, compliance checklists, diagnostics, risk management and succession planning. Xplan/Iress client-data integration is available in beta, which may suit practices already working in that ecosystem but introduces a qualification for integration-dependent workflows. Practices seeking a broad planning and operations environment should consider AstuteWheel; teams wanting a narrower calculator, a non-web platform, or modelling at the entry engagement tier should look elsewhere.
