Our verdict on Arctic Images

Arctic Images is an Iceland-based stock photography image bank founded by photographer Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson. It is designed for customers seeking nature and travel photography from Arctic regions, including Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Nunavut. The service combines an online image search engine with staff-assisted photo research, making it suitable for commercial and editorial projects that require a specific regional or visual focus. Customers can license photographs for advertising, books, brochures, annual reports, magazine articles, websites and other editorial uses.

The research and review workflow is a central strength. Search criteria can be based on subject, concept and image orientation, while staff can conduct photo research for customers who need help finding suitable material. Low-resolution previews support initial review, and personalized lightboxes give registered users a way to organize selected images. This combination suits teams comparing options for a defined project, especially when the desired imagery is tied to Arctic landscapes, travel or nature subjects.

Arctic Images uses contact-sales pricing rather than published fixed plans. Licensing fees depend on intended use, image size, placement, circulation and duration, so buyers should discuss project requirements before licensing. The service is web-only and its regional specialization makes it a focused choice rather than a general-purpose stock-photo destination. Choose Arctic Images when Arctic-focused imagery, staff research and commercial licensing are priorities; consider a broader alternative when projects require coverage outside its stated regions or a self-service plan structure.
