ARAnyM is a free, open-source software virtual machine for running 32-bit Atari ST, TT and Falcon operating systems and TOS/GEM applications on modern host hardware. It is aimed at solo users and small teams that need focused Atari-compatible system emulation rather than broad arcade or multi-platform coverage. Official builds and packages target Windows, macOS and Linux, and AFROS provides a ready-to-use EmuTOS and FreeMiNT environment that can boot without commercial Atari software.

Its strongest area is the depth of the emulated hardware. ARAnyM includes 68040 CPU emulation with optional MMU support, 68881/68882-compatible FPU emulation, JIT compilation for CPU and FPU, configurable ST-RAM and Fast-RAM, and Falcon-compatible DMA sound. It also covers VIDEL, Blitter, MFP, SCC, ACIA and IKBD components. Storage and connectivity are similarly broad for this scope, with Atari floppy and IDE disk-image support, host filesystem access through BetaDOS and MiNT XFS, Ethernet networking through MiNT-Net, native CD-ROM access, and USB/PCI NatFeat support.

The trade-off is focus and project maturity. ARAnyM covers three verified systems and does not support arcade emulation, making it a poor fit for users seeking a general-purpose emulator library. It is also desktop-only, with community and documentation support channels rather than a broader support structure. The project describes the software as unfinished and work-in-progress, while the latest official release shown is v1.1.0 from 2019. Choose ARAnyM for detailed Atari ST, TT and Falcon emulation with open-source access; consider an alternative if you need wider system coverage, arcade support or a more current release cadence.
