Nonprofits and churches looking to manage accounting alongside donor information may find Aplos a relevant fit. Its web-based product combines fund accounting, donation tracking, financial reporting, budgeting, donor management, and administrative tools. Organizations can track designated and time-restricted funds, record grants, reconcile bank accounts, and prepare budget-to-actual reports. A donor CRM database and secure donor portal extend its focus beyond bookkeeping, making it most suited to organizations that want financial and donor workflows together rather than accounting alone.
Fund accounting is central to the product: it supports designated, grant, and time-restricted funds, with Balance Sheet by Fund and Income Statement by Fund reporting. Grant features include setup, spending tracking, and grant reports. Bank integration and reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, donation tracking, customizable reports, dashboards, and an audit trail recording transactions and system changes round out the finance tools. Budgeting is tiered: Core adds basic budgeting, while Advanced adds budgeting by fund or grant, department or project, and dimensional budgeting and reporting. Custom adds income and expense allocations, fixed assets, bill approval, and additional dimensions and users.
Aplos has four paid plans: Lite, Core, Advanced, and Custom. Lite includes fund statements, bank reconciliation, custom reports, a board portal, and 1099 management; Core adds basic budgeting, payables and receivables, recurring transactions, and period close. Advanced includes everything in Core and three users, while Custom has tailored pricing. The published plans show standard monthly prices for the first three tiers, and annual billing is available. A 15-day trial is offered, but there is no free plan. Raisely and Keela are listed integrations, and the product is web-only. Choose Aplos if combining nonprofit accounting and donor CRM is a priority; organizations seeking a free plan or a non-web platform should look elsewhere.
