AME Accounting Software is a paid, Windows desktop accounting suite from AME Software Products, Inc. Its separate modules cover accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, and payroll. The vendor describes its products as serving small to medium-sized businesses and CPAs; the breadth here suits firms that want ledger, payables, receivables, and payroll functions in a desktop setup rather than a cloud-first service. A 30-day refund period is offered.

The accounting modules address day-to-day bookkeeping and reporting. General Ledger includes a customizable or preset chart of accounts, check writing, bank reconciliation, and financial statements. AP handles vendor and payment tracking, recurring payables, and AP reporting; AR includes invoice and statement printing, payment and credit application, recurring charges, and sales and aging reports. The system also supports income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, trial balance, budgeting, and prior-year comparison reports. These capabilities make the package broader than a ledger-only tool, though buyers should account for the fact that modules are purchased separately.

Payroll adds calculations, check printing, tax and payroll reports, and ACH file creation for direct deposit. This can make AME a fit for a small firm seeking accounting and payroll functions on Windows, especially if desktop deployment is a requirement. The trade-off is a narrower ecosystem: the product is desktop-only and no integrations are listed. Firms that require a cloud deployment or a documented integration ecosystem should compare alternatives; those comfortable with separate desktop modules may find the functional coverage more relevant.

  • Where it doesn't

    • Modules are sold separately
    • No listed integrations
