AMD Radeon GPU Profiler review
A free, focused profiler for AMD GPU performance, capture, and shader analysis.

AMD Radeon GPU Profiler is a desktop performance-analysis tool for game and compute developers working with AMD RDNA hardware. It visualizes GPU workload execution through frame summaries, queue submission views, event timing, pipeline stall analysis, synchronization and barrier analysis, wavefront occupancy, and shader instruction timing. RGP supports DirectX 12, Vulkan, OpenCL, and HIP applications. It runs on Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, with Vulkan-only graphics profiling on Linux and compute support on Windows 11.
The product’s free pricing model makes its full GPU-profiling feature set accessible without a paid tier structure. Its strongest analysis areas are workload scheduling and shader-level investigation: developers can correlate wavefront occupancy with GPU memory-cache behavior and inspect ISA-level hotspots alongside instruction timing. These capabilities suit teams diagnosing GPU bottlenecks, stalls, synchronization costs, or shader performance on Radeon hardware. RGP is narrower than a general performance suite because it focuses on GPU profiling rather than CPU or memory profiling.
Capture and analysis fit into an AMD-centered development workflow. Remote capture is available through Radeon Developer Panel and Radeon Developer Service, while Radeon GPU Analyzer supports pipeline-analysis interoperability and RenderDoc supports interoperability. This makes RGP a practical choice for developers already working with those tools and with DirectX 12, Vulkan, OpenCL, or HIP. Choose it for free, detailed AMD GPU workload analysis and remote capture; consider another tool if CPU profiling, memory profiling, or broader Linux graphics support is central to the workflow.
AMD Radeon GPU Profiler pros and cons
