Amazon Personalize is a fully managed machine learning service for developers building personalized experiences across websites and apps. It generates recommendations for products, content, search results, and next-best actions, while also supporting user segmentation. Applications provide interaction, catalog, and optional user data; recommendation models are then accessed through APIs. The service supports web, iOS, Android, and API use cases, with AWS positioning it for ecommerce, media, marketing, and other digital applications.

Pricing is usage-based rather than organized into fixed monthly plans. Data ingestion costs $0.05 per GB, including real-time streams and Amazon S3 batch uploads. Custom solution training and user segmentation training each cost $0.24 per training hour. Real-time recommendations cost $0.0556 per 1,000 recommendation requests monthly for the first 72 million requests per month, while batch recommendations cost $0.067 per 1,000 recommendations monthly for the first 20 million recommendations per month per eligible Region. Use case optimized recommenders cost $0.375 per 100,000 users per hour, with 4,000 free recommendations per hour. AWS also lists a free tier for the first two months, but there is no permanent free plan.

The feature set is suited to teams that want recommendation infrastructure rather than a visual personalization suite. Contextual signals such as device type and time of day, personalized ranking, filters, promotions, generative AI content snippets, and batch or real-time workflows support varied recommendation services. Integrations include Amazon S3, Amazon SageMaker AI Data Wrangler, AWS Amplify, Amazon OpenSearch Service, AWS CloudWatch Evidently, LangChain, Amplitude, Braze, Optimizely, and Segment. Choose Amazon Personalize for API-driven AWS development and predictive recommendations; teams needing visual editing or built-in experimentation should choose a broader personalization product.
