Aladdin Accounting review
A unified accounting platform for complex institutional portfolios and reporting workflows.

Aladdin Accounting is BlackRock’s institutional investment accounting platform for asset managers and asset owners, including insurers and pension funds. It brings together an Investment Book of Record, Accounting Book of Record and Performance Book of Record while supporting accounting across public and private assets. The product is aimed at organizations managing complex portfolios and investment-lifecycle workflows rather than lightweight bookkeeping teams.
Its strongest functional advantage is breadth within institutional accounting. Multi-basis accounting supports GAAP, STAT, IFRS and TAX bases, while journal entries can feed a general ledger. The platform also includes configurable chart-of-accounts mapping, standard and regulatory reporting, locked-period official returns for separately managed accounts, and fund NAV and performance oversight. Composite administration adds support for GIPS compliance workflows, making the product relevant where accounting, performance measurement and reporting need to work together.
Aladdin Accounting is a fit for institutions that need public- and private-market coverage alongside coordinated accounting and performance books. Its scope can be more than necessary for teams focused on a single asset class or straightforward accounting processes. Pricing is handled through contact with BlackRock rather than a published plan structure, so buyers should expect a sales-led evaluation. Choose it when multi-basis accounting, general-ledger feeds, regulatory reporting and institutional performance workflows are central requirements; consider a narrower accounting product when those capabilities are not needed.
