akeytsu review
A free desktop tool for rigging and animating 3D game characters.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
akeytsu is a desktop 3D character-animation and rigging application for game developers, indie creators, studios, and educational users. Its focus is character work: automatic biped rig generation, light rigging and skinning tools, keyframe animation, retargeting, animation layers, cycle creation, and FBX export. That makes it a practical fit for indie developers who need a dedicated animation tool without a current purchase price, rather than a complete modeling, rendering, or general-purpose 3D package.
The feature set covers much of the core character-animation workflow. A dynamic IK-FK hybrid solver and reverse-foot controllers support pose construction, while the breakdown pose editor, Curveboard, and Stacker timeline tools provide dedicated controls for refining motion. CycleMaker is aimed at loop creation, and animation layers support override and additive blending. These capabilities give a small team useful ways to build, adjust, and reuse game-ready movement without limiting the workflow to basic keyframes.
Its ecosystem fit is centered on FBX-based interoperability. The listed integrations include Unreal Engine 4, Unity, CryEngine, Godot, Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender, LightWave, Maxon Cinema 4D, Notch, Marmoset, Autodesk VRED, and Sketchfab. The current version is free, while legacy pages describe a 30-day trial and subscription, annual, and perpetual plans that are no longer available. Windows and macOS are the supported platforms. Choose akeytsu for focused, free 3D character animation and game-engine interchange; choose an alternative if you need broader production coverage or another operating system.
