Airward review
A macOS Wi-Fi scanner with free inventory and paid change alerts.

Airward is a macOS app for people who want to inventory devices on a local network and watch for suspicious Wi-Fi changes. It identifies devices by vendor, IP address, type and open ports, and lets users name, label and mark devices as trusted or block them. Device discovery uses the local network's neighbour table, while rogue-access-point detection monitors access points over the air. The app is for macOS 14 or later, making it a focused option for Mac users rather than a cross-platform scanner.
The Free plan provides live device inventory, device details including open ports, trust and label controls, and on-demand rescans. Pro costs €39.99 as a one-time purchase. It adds instant new-device alerts, full event history and timeline, rogue access point and evil-twin detection, security-downgrade detection, and native macOS notifications. For someone primarily seeking a current device list, Free covers the core inventory workflow; Pro is the relevant tier for ongoing change alerts and a record of joins, scans and anomalies.
Airward's security monitoring centers on local-network changes: it can flag access points broadcasting the user's network name that were not previously observed, encryption changes such as WPA to open, unknown devices joining, and association instability that may indicate deauthentication or interference. The vendor says device discovery and analysis run locally on the Mac and that network inventory and event history are not sent to its servers. That narrow scope suits solo users and small setups who want Wi-Fi visibility on a Mac. Those needing support beyond macOS or a broader security tool should look elsewhere.
