AI Stem Separation review
A flexible web splitter with minute-based billing, URL imports, and six-stem output.

AI Stem Separation is a browser-based audio separation tool for musicians, DJs, producers, teachers, and content creators. It uses Demucs through Replicate to split uploaded audio or permitted YouTube and SoundCloud links into two-, four-, or six-stem outputs. The six-stem mode separates vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano, and other, while waveform previews and per-stem auditioning help users review results before downloading. It runs on the web, so there is no desktop installation or recurring subscription requirement.
Pricing is based on audio minutes rather than downloads. The service provides five signup minutes, plus MP3 downloads and access to all stem and vocal tools; this allocation expires within the month and is not a permanent free plan. Spark costs $4.99 for 30 minutes and adds full-quality two- and six-stem processing, MP3 downloads, and credits that never expire. Session costs $11.99 for 100 minutes and adds WAV downloads, while Batch costs $29.99 for 300 minutes with the same full-quality two- and six-stem outputs and MP3 and WAV downloads. These are one-time minute purchases rather than recurring subscriptions.
The strongest fit is for occasional or project-based splitting where URL imports, saved jobs, and flexible stem counts matter. Saved jobs allow later redownloads, and the six-stem output offers more separation than simpler vocal-and-instrument tools. The tradeoff is a web-only workflow without API access or batch processing, which limits automation and larger production pipelines. WAV export is also tied to larger paid packs, so users who need uncompressed files should plan around Session or Batch. Choose it for accessible, pay-as-you-go web processing; choose an alternative for automated, desktop-based, or high-volume workflows.
