AhnLab TrusGuard brings network defenses together for organizations protecting internal networks and connecting headquarters, branches and remote users. Its firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, application control, anti-malware, anti-spam and DDoS features make it a fit for mid-market and enterprise teams already using AhnLab security. It is available for appliance, virtual and cloud deployment, so its role can vary with the organization’s infrastructure.

The feature set spans traffic control and threat filtering rather than focusing on a single gateway function. Firewall policies can use user, device, IP and URL attributes, while intrusion prevention combines signatures and behavior rules, with over 7,000 signatures. TrusGuard also offers IPSec and SSL VPN, stream-based malware scanning for email, websites and FTP transfers, SMTP and POP3 anti-spam filtering, application traffic analysis and abnormal-traffic blocking. Its virtual systems support multiple independently managed environments on one physical appliance. These capabilities suit teams that want several network protections in one product; organizations seeking a narrower or simpler solution may find that breadth unnecessary.

For multi-product management, AhnLab TMS provides central policy and log management across connected network security products, but it is separate from TrusGuard. AhnLab EPP is also listed as an integration. Pricing follows a contact-sales model, so evaluation requires a sales conversation rather than choosing from a published free or paid plan. The published hardware specifications include a maximum IPS throughput of 20G for the 2000B model; this is a model-specific measure, not a single throughput figure for every deployment. TrusGuard makes most sense for organizations that need integrated network controls and can assess the relevant model and management setup with AhnLab.

AhnLab TrusGuard pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Combines firewall, IPS, VPN, application control and malware scanning.
    • Supports IPSec and SSL VPN for remote access and site connections.
    • Virtual systems allow separate environments within one physical appliance.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Pricing is handled through contact with sales.
    • Central policy and log management requires the separate AhnLab TMS product.
    • Its broad network-security scope may exceed the needs of simpler deployments.
