AdminJS is an open-source administration panel for Node.js applications. It generates browser-based interfaces for managing database-backed resources, with CRUD operations, filtering, record search, custom actions, authentication, role-based access control, dashboards, and customizable React-based components. Developers can deploy it on the web and in self-hosted environments, making it suited to startups, enterprise teams, and engineering groups building internal or back-office systems.

Its main strength is ecosystem fit. AdminJS connects with MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Oracle, SAP HANA, Microsoft SQL, MongoDB, SQL databases, APIs, and several ORM or ODM models, including Sequelize, TypeORM, Mongoose, MikroORM, and Prisma. It also integrates with Node.js frameworks such as Express, Hapi, and NestJS. Custom record, bulk, and resource actions extend the standard administration model, while authentication providers, role-based permissions, and change logging through the @adminjs/logger plugin support controlled operational use.

AdminJS itself is free and open source. The paid offerings are services rather than recurring software subscriptions: the Training plan costs $3,000 one time for a 3-day course and unrestricted access to AdminJS experts; Consulting costs $4,000 one time for a 40-hour package with a dedicated AdminJS engineer and software architect; and AdminJS development costs $9,600 one time for a 160-hour package with a dedicated developer or team and software architect. Custom software development uses tailored estimation. Choose AdminJS when your team wants control and can work within a Node.js development model. Choose another internal-tools product if workflow automation or a less developer-oriented experience is central.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Developer-oriented rather than a full internal-tool platform
    • No verified workflow automation feature
    • Paid help is delivered through one-time service packages
