The 2026 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is scheduled for Sunday, 4 October at ParisLongchamp. France Galop’s draw notice lists 16 runners; below is the field in racecard order, with each stall, the jockey listed in the official draw notice where supplied, and the published form assessments that put the runner in context. Treat the draw and rider details as a snapshot: late changes, non-runners and race-day going can alter the picture.
The race is a Group 1 turf contest for three-year-olds and older, over 1m4f in the Racing Post card’s notation. Its listed weights vary by age and sex, so the draw alone is only one part of comparing this field.
Race details and declared field
France Galop’s draw notice dated 2 October lists 16 horses. The Racing Post card describes the race as a Group 1 for three-year-olds and older, with geldings excluded, over 1m4f. France Galop had announced 73 initial entries in May; that was an entry-stage figure, not the final field size.
The card lists 59.5kg for older colts, 58kg for older fillies, 56.5kg for three-year-old colts and 55kg for three-year-old fillies. It also states a 6lb weight-for-age allowance for three-year-olds against older horses and a 1.5kg allowance for fillies and mares. Consult the live racecard for the applicable conditions.

Horse-by-horse guide
The notes below report the assessments and comments published by The Guardian and Racing Post; they are not independent form verification or personal predictions. Stall numbers follow France Galop’s draw notice.
1. Daryz — stall 5
The defending champion returns seeking a second Arc victory. The Guardian notes his previous win and describes the draw as favorable; Racing Post’s Keith Melrose highlights his successful year and recent trial. Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard said he prefers the horse on good ground, where he can produce his turn of foot. That makes the final going relevant, but a repeat remains a possibility rather than a certainty.

Racing Post notes his Group 1 win in Germany, while both guides frame this as a substantial step up after recent success. His experience at the Arc distance is limited. Trainer Roger Varian said Saddadd would need a clear career best, while also pointing to the horse’s potential for further progress.

3. Chestnut Rocket — stall 2
The Guardian reports a close second to Al Aasy in a Deauville Group 2, describing it as a career-best effort. Racing Post regards him as a long-priced outsider, while trainer Alicja Karkosa said preparation had gone well and hoped for a respectable finish. The positive preparation report and the more cautious assessment are distinct perspectives, not guarantees of outcome.
4. Admire Terra — stall 12
The Guardian says Admire Terra finished third in the spring Tenno Sho, half a length behind the winner, and is still seeking a first Group 1 victory. Racing Post presents him as an interesting Japanese challenger. Trainer Yasuo Tomomichi said the horse was prepared in Japan and selected because the team believed he could adapt to Longchamp.
5. Meisho Tabaru — stall 13
France Galop’s entry announcement identifies Meisho Tabaru as the 2025 Takarazuka Kinen winner; The Guardian notes that he repeated that success. Both reports flag the wide stall as a consideration. Racing Post also questions how his forward racing style will suit from stall 13, but that is a tactical concern, not a settled outcome.

6. Arrow Eagle — stall 14
Racing Post reports that Arrow Eagle finished sixth in the previous Arc and won the Prix Royal-Oak, with softer ground a feature of those performances. The Guardian identifies this as trainer Jean-Claude Rouget’s final runner. The career context is notable, but it does not establish how the horse will perform in this edition.

7. Bay City Roller — stall 15
The Guardian recounts Group 1 wins, including the Coronation Cup, and notes that rain-softened ground played a part in that Epsom success. Racing Post reports that connections were concerned the ground might not be soft enough, while trainer George Scott gave a positive assessment of the preparation. Scott called him an admirable, tough horse who deserved to take his chance.
8. Minnie Hauk — stall 10
France Galop lists Minnie Hauk as the 2025 Arc runner-up. Racing Post describes a mixed ratings sequence since that close placing and reports Aidan O’Brien’s comment that she had dealt with corns during the year and was in good form. That is a trainer’s account of an issue during the season, not evidence of a current diagnosis.
9. Kalpana — stall 6
The Guardian and Racing Post discuss Kalpana’s previous Arc appearance and recent form, with different emphases on her prospects. Racing Post quotes Juddmonte racing manager Barry Mahon describing the draw as workable but saying she would need luck in running. The guides’ opinions should be kept separate from her recorded results.
10. Friendly Soul — stall 7
Racing Post notes Friendly Soul’s Prix Vermeille win and quotes joint-trainer Thady Gosden saying she had progressed through the season and handled the course and distance. The guide’s writer is more cautious about the strength of that form, giving readers two different assessments rather than a single consensus view.

11. Varandir — stall 4
Racing Post describes Varandir as an improving three-year-old after his Prix Niel win, a principal Arc trial. Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard said the horse had improved physically and mentally, adding that the team saw a real change over the summer. Both the improvement narrative and the significance of the trial are assessments of his prospects, not a result in advance.
12. Benvenuto Cellini — stall 1
Racing Post points to Benvenuto Cellini’s Irish Derby win and subsequent King George and Prix Niel efforts. Aidan O’Brien said the horse was in good form and had recovered from a disappointing trial. Stall 1 is the official draw; any claim about the tactics it might prompt is interpretation rather than fact.
13. Bright Light — stall 8
Racing Post notes Bright Light’s placings in Group 1 races and quotes trainer Andreas Suborics acknowledging that his form did not match the leading Arc credentials. Suborics also argued that softer ground could help. The guide’s low assessment and the trainer’s ground-related optimism are opinions from different perspectives.
14. Maltese Cross — stall 11
Racing Post describes Maltese Cross as a Group 1 winner and Derby runner-up, while raising a possible concern about his draw. Trainer William Haggas said the horse had improved physically and that his work was satisfactory. The stall is a consideration, not a verdict on his chances.

15. Thundering On — stall 3
Racing Post’s closing prediction places Thundering On second behind Daryz. That is the guide’s tip, not a consensus forecast or a verified probability. The runner guide also includes an assessment from his connections.
16. Diamond Necklace — stall 16
Racing Post reports four Group 1 wins for Diamond Necklace. Aidan O’Brien said she was in good form but had a tough draw. Stall 16 is the widest listed gate; neither the draw nor the trainer’s concern means success is impossible.

The runners bring unlike records, so no single feature settles the comparison. Prior Arc experience stands out for Daryz, Minnie Hauk, Kalpana and Arrow Eagle; recent Group 1 and trial form features in several other profiles, including Varandir and Friendly Soul. The published guides also raise questions about distance experience, ground preference and how individual running styles may work from their stalls.
