The 20TB Prism Drive deal behind this headline expired on October 23, 2023. Its advertised $89.97 price was about 94% below the stated $1,494 regular price—not 89%. As of October 5, 2026, Prism Drive lists annual storage plans and a separate one-time offer for 20 additional TB, but its current offer page does not establish that the storage lasts for life.
What happened to the 2023 20TB lifetime deal?
A Cult of Mac Deals promotion published October 20, 2023, advertised 20TB of Prism Drive cloud storage for $89.97, compared with a stated regular price of $1,494. The offer ended October 23, 2023, so that price is historical and should not be treated as available now.
Using the promotion’s own price pair, the reduction works out to about 94%: ($1,494 − $89.97) ÷ $1,494. That is the arithmetic implied by the listed figures; it is not the 89% stated in the headline.
What does Prism Drive cost now?
Prism Drive’s official pages, as observed October 5, 2026, list these options. The annual plans and the separate one-time offer are not like-for-like: the latter page does not specify a service duration that confirms lifetime access.

The annual prices and their listed features are on Prism Drive’s pricing page. The separate, labeled limited-time $59 offer appears on its “Double your storage” page. The pages do not establish that the current offer is the same promotion as the expired 2023 deal or that it carries the same terms.
What features and limits are listed?
The current pricing materials list unlimited shared traffic, zero-knowledge encryption, password-protected sharing, 30-day Trash history, and inline previews for the plans shown. Prism Drive’s FAQ and contact page says common file types can be previewed, shared links can have passwords or expiration dates, deleted files remain recoverable from Trash for 30 days, and FTP/SFTP is not supported.

The 2023 deal article described access across Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android, plus drag-and-drop management and shareable links. Those are claims in the dated promotion, not an independent test or confirmation of current platform support.

The crucial unknown is what “one-time” means for the current 20-additional-TB offer. The offer page does not establish a contractual service duration or explain what happens to files if the account closes or the service ends. Before paying, ask Prism Drive to confirm the access period, renewal obligations, account-closure process, and how you can retrieve files if access ends.

How should you assess security and backups?
Prism Drive says its data is encrypted at rest and in transit on its security page. Its wording about “zero-knowledge encryption” also appears as a feature bullet on the pricing page; without a current technical explanation, that label alone does not establish the encryption design or what the provider can access.
The company’s privacy policy says it may process information users provide when registering, contacting the company, or using its services, and cautions that no internet transmission or storage technology can be guaranteed completely secure. The policy is marked as last updated February 1, 2021, so check the current policy and terms before storing sensitive material.

Cloud storage can make files available across devices, but one cloud copy is not a complete backup strategy. Keep a separate copy of important files on local storage or another independent service. An external drive is one possible complement, not a required Prism Drive accessory; a related Cult of Mac cloud-storage listing has paired cloud storage with a 1TB external drive.
