To download a movie for offline viewing, open the Prime Video app on the Fire tablet, open the movie’s detail page, and select Download if that option is available. To let a child watch it in an Amazon Kids profile, you may also need to add eligible content to that profile; a download in an adult account does not automatically make a movie available to a child.
Download a movie in the Prime Video app
-
Connect the Fire tablet to Wi-Fi and open the Prime Video app.
-
Search for the movie and open its detail page.
-
Select Download if the option appears, then wait for the download to finish before disconnecting from the internet.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Amazon lists Fire tablets as devices that support Prime Video downloads for offline viewing. The download control is title-specific, so Amazon’s instructions do not establish that every movie is downloadable. If the movie’s page has no Download option, treat it as unavailable for download unless Amazon says otherwise. Amazon’s Prime Video download instructions

Make eligible content available in an Amazon Kids profile
A Fire tablet is the device; Amazon Kids is the child-profile environment with its own content controls. Downloading a title through Prime Video and managing what appears in the child profile are separate tasks.
Manage content from Parent Dashboard
In Parent Dashboard, choose the child’s profile and manage Amazon Kids+ subscription content or eligible purchased Amazon content. A child can request permission to download store titles after a parent enables Store access. Amazon’s child-profile content guidance

Check whether the movie can be added to the child profile
| Movie or content type | What to know |
|---|---|
| Purchased Amazon content | Parents can manage eligible purchased content for the child profile. |
| Amazon Kids+ subscription content | Parents can manage subscription content in the child profile. |
| Prime Video title included with Prime | Amazon says videos included with Prime cannot be added to a child profile. |
| Prime Video rental | Amazon says rentals cannot be added to a child profile. |
These limits concern adding content to an Amazon Kids profile; they are distinct from whether the Prime Video app offers a download for offline viewing. See Amazon’s content-eligibility guidance.

Troubleshoot a missing download or movie
The movie has no Download option
Check the movie’s detail page. If Download is not offered, Amazon’s general instructions do not describe a workaround for that specific title; it may not be available for offline download.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The child cannot see a downloaded or purchased movie
Check the child profile’s content controls and the movie’s category. A movie downloaded or available in an adult account is not necessarily eligible for a child profile, and Prime-included videos and rentals are excluded from being added there.

Check the right parental controls
Amazon distinguishes adult-profile Parental Controls, which can restrict playing Prime Video titles, from the controls for children’s profiles. For children under 13, Amazon points parents to child profiles rather than treating adult-profile controls as the child-profile setup. Amazon’s Fire tablet Parental Controls guidance
Availability varies by device and marketplace
Amazon Kids is available only in select marketplaces, and its features vary by device. If the profile controls described above are missing, availability or the tablet’s software may differ. Amazon’s overview of Amazon Kids
