Amazon’s U.S. Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6–7, 2026, and required Prime membership. Amazon’s event roundup highlighted selected Breville espresso machines at discounts of over $500 and listed the Barista Express at up to 28% off; The Guardian’s The Filter US listed a Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum at $270, down from $390, in its October 6 guide. Those are dated snapshots, not guaranteed live prices, so check the listing before buying.

Which Prime Big Deal Days offers stood out?

The examples below come from Amazon’s event roundup and The Guardian’s October 6 shopping guide. They cover different jobs, so a vacuum and an espresso machine are not directly comparable; judge each against your needs, budget, and the live listing.

Product Reported offer What to know
Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum $270, previously $390; 31% off, according to The Guardian’s October 6, 2026 guide. The guide describes a 40-minute runtime and suction across a range of surfaces, citing consumer tech editor Samuel Gibbs’s testing. Price and availability may change. The Guardian guide
Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine Up to 28% off in Amazon’s 2026 event roundup; a fixed price is not stated in the cited roundup. Amazon describes it as grinding, dosing, and brewing espresso on the countertop. The discount is an event offer, not a claim about the product’s usual market price. Amazon event overview
Breville Joule Turbo Sous Vide Machine $150, previously $250; 40% off, according to The Guardian’s October 6, 2026 guide. The Guardian compared that snapshot with a $142 June Prime Day low. That is the guide’s comparison, not proof of an all-time low; check the current listing and price history. The Guardian guide

What did Amazon say about the wider sale?

Amazon said its U.S. 48-hour event spanned more than 35 categories. Its stated discount of up to 40% applied to selected floorcare from Dyson, Ninja, and iRobot; it does not mean every Dyson product was discounted by 40%. Amazon also said selected Breville espresso machines had savings of over $500, while its roundup listed the Barista Express at up to 28% off. Those claims describe selected event offers, not a guaranteed price for every item or seller. Amazon’s event overview

How to check whether a deal is worth buying

  1. Confirm the exact model and listing. Similar product names can refer to different versions or bundles. Check the model, included accessories, seller, and fulfillment details on the product page.
  2. Check the price at checkout. The Guardian’s Dyson and Joule figures were published October 6, 2026. Amazon’s event offers were tied to October 6–7; prices, stock, and Prime eligibility can change. Confirm the final price and eligibility before placing an order.
  3. Use price history rather than “was” pricing alone. Amazon says shoppers can check Price History for up to 365 days of data. That can help put a crossed-out price in context, but it does not establish a lifetime-low claim.
  4. Match the product to the job. For the Dyson V8, consider whether its stated 40-minute runtime and range of surface use suit your cleaning needs. For the Barista Express, consider whether you want a countertop machine that grinds, doses, and brews espresso. For the Joule Turbo, decide whether sous vide fits the way you cook. A discount does not make a product useful if it is the wrong fit.
  5. Compare the real savings with your budget. Treat the stated discount as a prompt to inspect the live offer, not as a reason to buy immediately. If the current price is not attractive to you, skip it.

Who verified these recommendations?

The Guardian’s The Filter US says, “Every item we recommend is something a Filter editor or contributor has personally tested and can vouch for.” That is the publication’s stated policy for its own recommendations. The dated prices and product descriptions above are attributed to their sources; they are not claims of firsthand testing by this article’s writer. The Guardian guide
