Prem Keetanu is an easygoing Hindi rom-com with a lively comic opening and appealing performances, but its familiar romance and unfocused screenplay keep it from fully landing. Hindustan Times reviewer Rishabh Suri rates it 2.5/5; that is one critic’s verdict, not a consensus score.
What is Prem Keetanu about?
Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, the film follows Vishal (Veer Pahariya), who meets Suhani (Aafiya Sayed) in college and reconnects with her after she starts a corporate job. Vishal is struggling to find work while planning to study in the United States, and Suhani’s boss Ranjeet (Aparshakti Khurana) is also pursuing her. Nikhil Vijay plays Vishal’s friend, with Rakesh Bedi among the supporting cast.
Hindustan Times identifies Prem Keetanu as a remake of the 2024 Malayalam hit Premalu. The available review does not establish specific scene-by-scene changes, so the remake connection alone is not a basis for judging how closely the films match.

A breezy comic opening
Suri finds the first half light and funny, with comic exchanges that give the film an easy rhythm. He particularly praises the chemistry between Pahariya and Vijay, whose friendship supplies much of the early energy.

Likeable performances
Pahariya brings comic timing to Vishal, while Vijay makes the best-friend role a lively counterpoint. Their performances help the film stay entertaining even when its central love story has yet to build much emotional force.
Where does Prem Keetanu lose momentum?
A romance that feels familiar
For Suri, the main relationship does not develop enough emotional pull to make its familiar boy-meets-girl arc feel fresh. That limits the investment in Vishal and Suhani as the story moves beyond its more buoyant opening.
Songs and an unfocused screenplay
Suri argues that several songs do little to move the story forward, interrupting rather than strengthening its pace. He also sees the screenplay as lacking a clear destination. In his assessment, the film’s resolution leans on a conventional romantic pattern in a way that undercuts Suhani’s independence; this is a spoiler-light criticism of the approach, not a description of the ending.

If you want a light Hindi comedy and enjoy buddy-comedy chemistry, Suri’s review suggests there are entertaining stretches to enjoy. If a satisfying romance, focused storytelling and songs that advance the plot matter most to you, the same review points to reasons for caution. His overall verdict is that the film has charm, but not enough emotional or narrative focus to impress.
