Port of Cork Company reported profit after tax of €7.95 million for 2025, up from €5.43 million in 2024. Its profit before tax was approximately €8.5 million, according to the Irish Examiner’s 1 October 2026 report on the company’s latest annual report.

How the 2025 results compare with 2024

The company’s financial year ends on 31 December. The figures below are company statistics reported by the Irish Examiner; 2024 comparisons are also given in Port of Cork’s 2024 reporting.

What the company attributed the increase to

The Irish Examiner reported the company’s explanation that stronger liquid-bulk and container trades, along with storage income, supported the higher 2025 profit before tax. The report does not establish these as the only contributors or provide a detailed breakdown of each source’s contribution.

Port revenue can come from several activities—including port dues, terminal operations, leasing land and infrastructure, stevedoring, warehouse rents, towage and storage—according to the NewERA and NTMA institutional profile. That context helps explain why cargo mix and storage activity may matter, but it is not a 2025 revenue breakdown.

How to read the year-on-year change

After-tax profit increased by €2.52 million between 2024 and 2025, while operating profit rose by €2.2 million and turnover by €3.1 million. These are separate measures: the nearly €8 million headline refers to profit after tax, not the approximately €8.5 million pre-tax figure.

The 2024 report said operating profit had fallen from €7.5 million in 2023 despite higher turnover, citing the cost of operating container terminals at Tivoli and Ringaskiddy, partly offset by efficiency efforts. That earlier explanation should not be treated as evidence of what changed in 2025.
