Pokémon Wordle was scheduled to be taken down on October 3, 2026, according to a report published by Siliconera two days earlier. The report attributed the planned removal to contact from The New York Times over Wordle rights, but the available sources do not confirm that the game actually went offline.
What is Pokémon Wordle?
Pokémon Wordle is a Japanese-language browser puzzle in which players guess Pokémon names. Its game page describes it as a Pokémon version of Wordle and gives the instruction, “１０回のチャレンジでポケモンの名前を当てよう！”—“Guess a Pokémon’s name in ten challenges!” The game’s page is in Japanese.
That ten-challenge format is distinct from conventional Wordle, which Siliconera describes as using five-letter guesses and color-coded feedback across six attempts. Pokémon Wordle’s name-guessing theme does not mean it follows those exact rules. Siliconera also distinguishes it from the separately named game Pokedle. Siliconera’s report describes questions selected by generation or game.
Why was Pokémon Wordle reportedly being taken down?
Siliconera reported on October 1, 2026, that the developer, giga_yadoran, had announced plans to remove the game on October 3. The outlet said the developer cited contact from The New York Times concerning Wordle rights.

The linked social media post could not be retrieved, so the explanation is attributable to Siliconera’s account rather than independently verified primary evidence. The available information does not establish a court ruling, lawsuit, or formal cease-and-desist notice.
Did the game actually go offline?
The October 3 date was the planned removal date, not confirmation that removal occurred. The available sources do not establish whether the game was taken down. Its page returned a minimal Japanese description, which does not demonstrate that normal gameplay was still available.

What can you play instead?
Siliconera points readers to PokeDoku, but it is a different kind of Pokémon puzzle, not a like-for-like Wordle replacement.
