Those details are unverified leak claims, not official game information. The Pokémon Company has confirmed the games are planned for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, but its announcement does not confirm the island count or the purported mechanic.
What the Pokémon Winds and Waves leak reportedly reveals
VICE attributes the claims to dialogue said to come from a beta build. A Reddit post dated October 2, 2026, reproduces purported introductory text, but the post does not authenticate the material. The report says the text may date to a 2023–2024 build, which may not reflect the games as they stand now or at release.
A region of around 100 islands
The alleged dialogue describes a region of around 100 islands and a culture shaped by 3,000 years of history. Both figures are claims in the purported text; neither has been confirmed by The Pokémon Company. Its official announcement describes windswept islands and a vast ocean but gives no island count or regional-history figure.
Majinization and the Majinize Band
According to VICE, the alleged text names a battle gimmick called Majinization, activated with an item called the Majinize Band. It reportedly mentions a Majinize Research Lab and suggests Gym Leaders use the mechanic. The excerpts do not explain what Majinization does in battle, what its advantages are, or how players obtain or use the band beyond the reported reference. None of these details appears in the official announcement.

Three campaign tours
The leaked text reportedly outlines three tours:
- League Tour: challenge Gyms and aim to become a Master.
- Legend Tour: pursue legends and uncover mysteries.
- Majinize Tour: learn about Majinization.
The report does not establish whether players can choose the order, whether the tours run in parallel, or how they connect.
Possible companion named Konetsu
VICE also reports a possible Pokémon companion named Konetsu. The available excerpts do not establish its appearance, type, or whether it is a box-art Legendary. The Pokémon Company has not named Konetsu in the official material reviewed.

Is Majinization confirmed?
No. Majinization, the Majinize Band, and the Majinize Research Lab are reported details from alleged beta dialogue. They are not confirmed by The Pokémon Company’s announcement. The report does not authenticate the files, and if the dialogue is from a 2023–2024 build, its contents may have changed during development.

On February 27, 2026, The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as upcoming games exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, with a simultaneous worldwide release planned for 2027. The official description confirms an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean, with local Pokémon developing unique ecosystems. It does not confirm the leak’s figures, mechanic, character, or tour structure.

The announcement names three first partner Pokémon:
- Browt: Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon.
- Pombon: Fire-type Puppy Pokémon.
- Gecqua: Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon.
It also shows special Pikachu called Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, while saying their role in the adventure will be explained in future announcements.
