For Android, install Pokémon TCG Pocket from Google Play—not an APK mirror. Pokémon’s official pages direct Android players to Google Play and do not provide a standalone APK download. For iPhone or iPad, use the App Store; APK files are for Android and cannot be installed on iOS.
Where to download Pokémon TCG Pocket officially
On Android, use the Google Play listing for Pokémon TCG Pocket and confirm that the developer is The Pokémon Company. Pokémon’s official game website also points players to Google Play and the App Store. A third-party site using Pokémon branding or the game’s package name is not thereby an official source.
On iPhone or iPad, download the game from its App Store listing, published by The Pokémon Company. An APK is an Android application package, not an iOS installation file; do not use an APK converter or install a configuration profile from an unknown site. Pokémon TCG Pocket is also separate from Pokémon TCG Live, so make sure you have selected the right game.
Check device compatibility before installing
Pokémon’s official Gameplay FAQ, reviewed July 16, 2026, gives these recommended specifications. Meeting them does not guarantee that the game will work on every device.

Android 7.0 by itself is not enough to establish compatibility: the device also needs the listed architecture and graphics support. Pokémon notes that modified devices may fail to launch and that a newly released operating-system version may take time to become supported.
Install the game from Google Play
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Search for Pokémon TCG Pocket – Card Game. You can also follow the Google Play button on the official Pokémon game site.
- Open the listing and verify that the developer is The Pokémon Company.
- Tap Install, then open the game when installation finishes.
- Complete the country or region selection, age confirmation, terms, and privacy screens, then let the game download its initial data over a stable connection.
- Before changing devices or reinstalling, link an account if you want to preserve and transfer your save data. From the main menu, go to Menu > Other > Account.
For later updates, use the listing’s Update button in Google Play. Store details such as version, update date, and app size change; check the live listing for current information rather than relying on a version number or file size printed elsewhere.
If the game does not appear in Google Play
An unavailable listing does not necessarily mean you need an APK. It may reflect the device’s compatibility, an unsupported operating-system version, regional availability, account or parental-control settings, or a temporary Play Store problem. Modified ROMs, root configurations, incompatible device architecture, and unsupported emulator environments can also cause problems.

- Use the official game site’s Google Play button to confirm you are looking at the intended listing.
- Check the Android version, 64-bit support, RAM, Vulkan support, and GPU class against the recommended specifications above.
- Update Google Play Store and Google Play services, then restart the device.
- Check that there is enough free storage and try again on a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
- If the device appears compatible but the listing is still unavailable, contact Pokémon Support or your device manufacturer.
Changing a Google account’s country or using a VPN is not a guaranteed way to make the game available. For a documented network-login error, Pokémon’s troubleshooting guidance specifically advises against using a VPN.
If installation, an update, or startup fails
The update is not available yet
Pokémon Support says it may take approximately 24 hours after an update is released for it to become downloadable through Google Play or the App Store. Wait, reopen the official store listing, and restart the store app or device before trying again. If the game keeps requesting an update after that, contact Pokémon Support rather than replacing the installation with an unverified APK.
The download stalls or the game crashes
The initial store download is not the only storage the game may need. Pokémon’s technical troubleshooting guidance says additional space is needed for save files; insufficient space can prevent launching or updating. Leave free storage beyond the displayed app size, use a stable connection, close other apps if the device is low on memory, and restart the game or device if it stalls.

On Android, Pokémon’s example cache-clearing path is Settings > Apps > Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket > Storage & cache > Clear cache. Menu names vary by device. Clear cache is not the same as deleting save data: do not select Delete Save Data as a routine troubleshooting step.
Protect your save before reinstalling or changing devices
Pokémon’s account-linking and data-transfer FAQ says you must link an account before transferring save data. Supported options are a Nintendo Account, Google Account, or—on iOS—Apple Account.
- On the current device, open the game’s main menu and choose Menu > Other > Account.
- Choose the account you want to link and enter its login details.
- On the new device, progress through Country/Region Selection > Age Confirmation > Terms of Use and Privacy Notice.
- Choose Transfer Existing Save Data and select the account linked to the save.
The same linked save can be used on more than one device, but not simultaneously. Pokémon says deleted save data cannot be recovered, and separate save data cannot be merged. Reinstalling before linking can make recovery difficult or impossible. If you have a Premium Pass, check Pokémon’s purchase and Premium Pass FAQ for platform-account details; use the appropriate official store account when reinstalling.

Why avoid unofficial APKs?
No standalone APK download was identified on the official Pokémon game or support pages reviewed. That does not prove that every file hosted elsewhere is malicious; it means Pokémon’s official distribution pages do not let you verify a mirror file’s authenticity or whether it has been modified. An unendorsed package may be outdated, signed differently, bundled with an unexpected installer, or altered to request intrusive permissions. A successful installation also does not guarantee it will update, sign in, or connect to current game services.
- Prefer Google Play and confirm the developer name before installing.
- Keep Google Play Protect enabled, and do not disable device security controls to install a game.
- Do not enter Nintendo, Google, Apple, or payment credentials into a third-party APK or mirror.
- Avoid “unlimited Poké Gold,” unlocked cards, cracked Premium Pass, and similar modified versions; those claims are not an official download route.
If you already installed an APK from an untrusted source, uninstall it and run your device’s security scan. If you entered credentials into an untrusted screen, change them through the official account service and review account activity. For save-data concerns, link through the official app if it is safe to do so and contact Pokémon Support for account-specific help.

Can an APK fix regional unavailability?
It may not address store, account, server, or regional availability. Pokémon’s official pages direct Android users to Google Play; contact Pokémon Support if the official listing is unavailable in your region.
Can I keep my cards if I reinstall?
Link the save to a supported account before reinstalling. Pokémon says deleted save data is permanent; an unlinked save may be difficult or impossible to recover.
