In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, Mystery Gift unlocks after you reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos. To claim a gift, open X > Poké Portal > Mystery Gift, then choose Internet or Code/Password. An expired code should be treated as unavailable unless the promotion’s official terms say otherwise.
When does Mystery Gift unlock?
Reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos. At that point, both Poké Portal and Mystery Gift become available. Nintendo’s Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet support guide lists a Nintendo Switch-family console and an internet connection among the requirements for receiving gifts.
The cited guide does not establish a separate paid subscription requirement. That does not guarantee that every promotion or online function has identical terms, so check the relevant offer if it specifies additional requirements.

Start the game and open the Mystery Gift menu during gameplay. Choose the path that matches the offer you have:

Claim a gift over the internet
- Press X during gameplay.
- Select Poké Portal, then Mystery Gift.
- Select Internet. The game connects and searches for gifts currently available.
- Highlight the gift you want and press A to confirm.
- Check where the reward was delivered, then save your game.
Redeem a code or password
- Press X, then select Poké Portal > Mystery Gift.
- Select Code/Password.
- Enter the code supplied by the promotion and confirm.
- Check where the reward was delivered, then save your game.
Nintendo describes Mystery Gift as a way to receive gifts by connecting wirelessly or redeeming download codes. The menu’s precise wording may vary by game version; follow the label shown in your game.
Where do Mystery Gift rewards go?
- Pokémon: added to your party if there is room, or sent to your Pokémon Boxes.
- Non-fashion items: placed in your Bag.
- Fashion items: accessed from the Outfit menu; press Left to open it.
To review gifts you have already received, open Mystery Gift and choose Check Mystery Gifts. Nintendo describes this as a receipt-history view; it does not say that the feature restores an unclaimed gift or reactivates an expired distribution.

- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
Can I still use an expired Mystery Gift code?
Do not assume an expired code will work. The game’s general redemption instructions explain where to enter a code, but do not establish a universal way to extend, reactivate, or redeem expired codes another way. Whether a particular code is still valid depends on its official promotion terms and deadline.

Pokémon HOME has its own Gift Box rules, including a period after which gifts become unavailable and a one-per-save-file limit. Those HOME-specific rules do not establish the rules for Mystery Gifts claimed inside Scarlet or Violet.

Check the original official promotion announcement for any stated deadline or alternate claim method. Nintendo’s Scarlet and Violet instructions cover the normal internet and code redemption routes, but do not describe a general recovery path for missed or expired distributions. A prior event’s announcement is historical information, not confirmation that its gift can still be claimed.
