Pokémon GO’s October 8, 2026 gameplay update adds a confirmation prompt before you transfer a Pokémon with maxed-out stats. For bulk transfers, the prompt also states how many of the selected Pokémon are perfect-stat Pokémon. It is a narrow safeguard: it triggers on one condition, not on every Pokémon you might consider valuable. Transfers are still permanent, so the prompt is only useful if you read it before confirming.

What the new prompt checks

The trigger is a Pokémon with maxed-out stats, the 100% IV Pokémon that many players call “perfect” or “hundos.” The official announcement describes the condition in those terms and does not extend it to rare species, shiny Pokémon, high-CP Pokémon, or Pokémon you have simply kept for sentimental reasons. If a Pokémon is not maxed, you should not expect this specific warning.

The announcement states the rule directly: “Trainers will now receive a confirmation prompt before transferring any Pokémon that has maxed-out stats.” It also says the warning “displays the exact count of ★ 100% Pokémon selected during bulk transfers.” Both statements come from the Pokémon GO team’s October 8, 2026 gameplay update announcement.

How bulk transfers are covered

When you select several Pokémon for transfer, the prompt gives a count of how many of those selections are perfect-stat Pokémon. That number is the main practical benefit. A bulk selection that looks routine can contain a dozen maxed Pokémon mixed in with duplicates, and the count lets you notice that before you confirm.

The count tells you how many perfect-stat Pokémon are in the selection. It does not identify which ones, so you still need to review the list yourself if a particular Pokémon matters to you.

Prompt versus favorite: two different safeguards

The new prompt and the existing favorite status work differently. They should not be treated as the same protection.

The prompt is a warning you can click through. Favoriting is a lock: a favorited Pokémon cannot be transferred at all. To favorite a Pokémon, open its profile and tap the star.

Why transfers cannot be undone

The Pokémon GO Help Center states that a transferred Pokémon cannot be returned. Neither the prompt nor any other in-game feature restores a Pokémon after it has been transferred. The warning exists to prevent the mistake, not to undo it.

A practical routine

  1. Before a cleanup session, favorite any Pokémon you want to keep, including perfect Pokémon you care about.
  2. When you select Pokémon for bulk transfer, check the count shown in the prompt against the number you expected.
  3. If the count is higher than expected, cancel and reselect. Favorited Pokémon will not appear as transferable.
  4. Confirm only after you have checked the list.

This routine covers the prompt and the favorite lock together. It does not guarantee that you will never transfer a Pokémon by accident, since the prompt can be confirmed and non-maxed Pokémon are outside its trigger.

What the update does not cover

  • Pokémon that are not maxed, even if they are rare, high-level, or important to you.
  • Recovery of any Pokémon after a confirmed transfer.
  • Any prevalence figure for accidental transfers. The announcement does not publish statistics on how often players transfer Pokémon by mistake.

Players have asked why the game cannot warn about perfect Pokémon in general, which is the question this update answers in part. The change is a targeted check, and favoriting remains the only way to fully lock a Pokémon against transfer.
