The POCO X8 has the larger, sharper display and a manufacturer-listed 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization; the POCO M8 5G’s cited specification sheet lists 4K rear video and a higher-resolution selfie camera. There is not enough comparable pricing or battery data here to name a value winner: the available M8 prices are temporary UK campaign prices, and no matching X8 price was established.
This is a comparison of the POCO M8 5G and POCO X8—not the M8 Pro 5G or X8 Pro. The specifications below come from official pages for different markets: Xiaomi Hungary for the M8 and POCO UK for the X8. Check your local model, configuration, network bands and box contents before buying.
POCO M8 5G vs POCO X8: key specifications
| Specification | POCO M8 5G (Hungary listing) | POCO X8 (UK listing) |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED; 2392 × 1080; up to 120Hz; listed peak brightness of 3200 nits | 6.83-inch AMOLED; 2772 × 1280; up to 120Hz; 3500-nit peak brightness at 25% OPR |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main and 2MP depth; rear video up to 4K/30fps | 50MP main with OIS and 2MP depth; listed rear video modes are 1080p/30fps and 720p/30fps |
| Front camera | 20MP; video at 1080p/30fps and 720p/30fps | 16MP; video at 1080p/30fps and 720p/30fps |
| Battery and charging | Not stated in the Hungary specification material cited here | 8340mAh typical silicon-carbon battery; 67W HyperCharge; up to 22.5W wired reverse charging |
| Processor and memory | Not established by the cited Hungary material | Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 4nm; 8GB RAM and 256GB storage on the UK page |
| Water and dust resistance | Not established by the cited M8 material | POCO advertises IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K; see the conditions and limits on its global product page |
Figures are manufacturer-listed specifications, not results from independent testing. The brightness figures in particular use different stated conditions, so they do not establish a controlled head-to-head brightness result. On the cited regional specification pages, the X8 has a slightly larger panel and higher resolution: 6.83 inches at 2772 × 1280, compared with the M8 5G’s 6.77 inches at 2392 × 1080. Both listings specify refresh rates up to 120Hz. The X8 page also gives a 3500-nit peak figure at 25% OPR, while the M8 page lists 3200 nits without the same stated condition. Treat those peak brightness values as separate manufacturer claims, not a direct measurement comparison.

How do their cameras differ?
Both listings name a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. The X8 sheet explicitly lists optical image stabilization (OIS), a feature that can help reduce blur from hand movement. The M8 sheet explicitly lists rear video recording up to 4K/30fps, while the X8 UK sheet lists 1080p/30fps and 720p/30fps. These sheet-level differences do not establish which phone produces better photos or video overall; local variants and software may differ.
For selfies, the M8’s Hungary page lists a 20MP front camera and the X8’s UK page lists 16MP. More megapixels alone do not prove better image quality, which also depends on factors such as sensor and image processing.
What about battery life and charging?
The X8 UK specification page lists an 8340mAh typical silicon-carbon battery, 67W HyperCharge and wired reverse charging up to 22.5W. It also says a power adapter is not included in the box. Check the package for your country and retailer.

The cited M8 material does not establish its battery capacity or charging rate. That means these sources cannot support a claim that the X8’s battery is larger or that it lasts longer than the M8 5G. Battery capacity alone would not determine real-world endurance in any case.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is one a better buy for the price?
No reliable price difference can be calculated from the available figures. Xiaomi UK’s Fan Festival 2026 terms listed the M8 5G at £229 original and £199 promotional for 8GB/256GB, and £259 original and £229 promotional for 8GB/512GB. These are campaign prices, subject to the promotion’s terms and stock—not a standing price. The cited material does not establish a comparable X8 price.
For a fair comparison, check live prices in your country for the same storage capacity, then include any required charger in the total. The UK campaign terms are at Xiaomi UK Fan Festival 2026.
Quick Recap
Which should you choose?
- Consider the POCO X8 if the larger, higher-resolution display, listed OIS, or specified high-capacity battery and 67W charging are priorities. These are specification-based distinctions, not a claim of independently tested performance.
- Consider the POCO M8 5G if 4K/30fps rear video or its listed 20MP selfie camera better matches your needs, or if its live local price is more attractive. The cited camera specifications do not establish image-quality superiority.
- Pause before deciding if your choice depends on battery capacity, processor performance, durability, exact network compatibility or price. Confirm those details for the precise models and configurations sold in your market.
What to verify before buying
- Confirm the model name. POCO lists the M8 5G and X8 as separate devices; do not substitute specifications for the M8 Pro 5G or X8 Pro.
- Match the local SKU. Check the seller’s exact model, RAM and storage configuration, and the network bands supported in your region. The cited specification pages come from different markets and do not prove every regional version is identical.
- Check the complete price. Compare current local prices for matching storage, and check whether a compatible power adapter is included.
- Read the durability conditions. POCO’s global X8 page advertises IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K and describes a TÜV SÜD 2m/72-hour test. These are manufacturer claims subject to stated conditions and warranty limits; the page also cautions that underwater mode does not add water protection. See POCO X8 global product information.
