The Poco F9 Ultra is the phone behind the “top-rated smartphone sound quality” headline. Its Bose-tuned speaker system pairs two stereo speakers with a separate subwoofer, giving it more low-end presence than typical phone speakers. Reviewers praise its loud, balanced sound, but the headline is not evidence that it ranks objectively first: no formal cross-phone ranking or published sound-quality score was found.
How the Poco F9 Ultra’s Bose-tuned speaker system works
The F9 Ultra uses a 2.1-channel arrangement: two symmetrical 1115D speakers handle stereo playback, while an independent 1620 subwoofer adds a dedicated low-frequency element. Digital Trends describes this hardware configuration, and Notebookcheck’s review also lists the dedicated subwoofer as a feature. Bose tuning is reported to use a 15-level graded approach that adjusts frequency calibration at different volume levels, with Dynamic and Balanced profiles, according to Gadget Pilipinas.
That extra driver helps explain why reviewers describe the phone as fuller-sounding than an ordinary handset. It does not make the F9 Ultra a substitute for a larger speaker: Digital Trends cautions that a phone-sized device cannot deliver chest-thumping bass. The distinction is useful if you are deciding whether you want clearer, weightier sound for casual listening or genuinely room-filling low end.
What reviewers say about sound quality
Notebookcheck’s review, “Poco F9 Ultra Review: Exceptional battery life meets powerful sound”, names the speaker system and exceptionally high maximum volume among the phone’s strengths. Notebookcheck’s separate news coverage describes loud playback, balanced sound and surprising low-frequency depth for the phone’s size. AndroidGuys likewise says the system has considerably more low-end presence than the average smartphone.

Those are favorable reviewer impressions, not a verified universal ranking. The available coverage does not establish that the phone is objectively the best-sounding smartphone, and exact maximum-loudness and frequency-response measurements are not available here. The sensible takeaway is narrower: the F9 Ultra is a standout candidate if built-in speaker volume and bass presence matter to you, but the evidence does not justify treating “top-rated” as a standardized award or #1 position.
Bluetooth audio and listening beyond the built-in speakers
Coverage attributes support for aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC 5.0, LC3, Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast to the phone. These are wireless audio codec and feature options rather than measures of the built-in speakers’ quality. Actual playback depends on the connected headphones or speaker supporting the relevant codec or feature, as well as the phone’s settings and regional software.

Poco does not officially sell its flagships in the United States, so U.S. buyers should expect to import the phone rather than buy it through an official domestic Poco channel. Import availability, final cost and local support are separate considerations from the speaker performance.

The F9 Ultra is part of a broader Xiaomi/Poco use of Bose audio branding. The Redmi K90 Pro Max was announced in October 2025 with a Bose 2.1-channel system, and the Poco F8 Ultra was also reported to use Bose audio. That history offers context, but it does not by itself establish that every model has identical hardware or tuning.

Who should consider the Poco F9 Ultra for sound?
- It may suit you if you often listen through phone speakers and want unusually high volume and more bass presence than a typical smartphone provides.
- It may not suit you if you expect the depth or physical impact of a dedicated speaker, or if sound quality alone must justify the phone’s price.
- Compare carefully if you mainly use headphones: the listed Bluetooth options may matter more to your setup than the phone’s built-in subwoofer, and compatibility depends on your audio gear.
