The glow-in-the-dark Aurora Green back is the POCO F9 Pro’s most talked-about feature, but it is not the main reason to consider the phone. Based on POCO’s official specifications and one detailed published review, the stronger case rests on a top-tier Snapdragon chipset, a 185Hz AMOLED screen, a 200MP main camera with a telephoto lens, and 100W wired charging. Prices, colours, box contents and accessories vary by market, so those points need checking before you buy.
This is a guide built on manufacturer specifications and a published review. It is not a hands-on test by our team.
How the Aurora Green glow works
Xiaomi’s UK product information describes the back panel this way: the entire back “maintains a sleek, clean look in daily use, and once exposed to sunlight or indoor lighting, it emits a soft, uniform, long-lasting glow in the dark.” That is product copy from Xiaomi, not a statement from a named person.

The glow is tied to the Aurora Green finish, so it applies only if that colour is the one you buy. Holly, reviewing for Gizmochina (page updated 27 September 2026), describes the glow as subtle and not especially bright. Treat it as a design detail that you notice in a dark room, not a nightlight. The sources do not quantify how long the glow lasts after charging, so expect to judge that yourself.

Performance and sustained gaming
POCO’s global specifications list a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series processor (SM8850-1-AB), 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, depending on configuration.
The Genshin Impact test
The Gizmochina review ran a 15-minute Genshin Impact session at maximum settings. According to the reviewer, the frame rate stayed close to 60fps with minor dips. That is one reported scenario in one game on one unit. It is not a guarantee of how the phone will behave over longer sessions, in other titles, or on every device, and it is not a standardised benchmark.

Overall feel
The same review calls the phone a well-rounded package. That verdict is the reviewer’s judgement, and it is the most useful way to read the performance evidence: strong on paper, with one good real-world gaming result to back it up.

Display: 185Hz and what the number means
- Panel: 6.59-inch AMOLED, 2510 × 1156 resolution (POCO global specifications).
- Refresh rate: listed up to 185Hz. POCO says the actual refresh rate varies by interface and by game image quality, so the top figure is a ceiling rather than a constant.
- Smoothness: the reviewer describes the display as smooth in use.
- Outdoor readability: no independent brightness or sunlight measurement is available in the sources, so outdoor visibility is not established.
Cameras: flexibility is the point
The rear camera array is where the phone’s versatility comes from, according to POCO’s official specifications:

The review discusses everyday camera output, but the sources do not provide a standardised image-quality score. Megapixel counts describe the sensor, not the finished photo, so judge the results from sample shots if image quality is your priority.
Battery life and charging
Xiaomi UK lists a 6,330mAh typical battery capacity. The reviewer says battery life was reliable enough for a full day. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a standardised endurance result, and it will depend on how you use the phone.

The charging figures differ by item, and the packaging is the part most likely to surprise buyers:
| Charging item | Official figure | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Wired charging | 100W (POCO global specifications) | Xiaomi UK says no power adapter is included. It recommends a Xiaomi 100W or higher adapter, or a 100W adapter that supports PD. |
| Wireless charging | 50W (Xiaomi UK) | Wireless chargers are sold separately in the UK. Confirm compatibility and the speed you actually get before buying one. |
| Reverse charging | Supported; speed not stated in the sources | Check the product page for your region if you plan to use it to charge accessories. |
Size, weight and durability
The global specifications list the phone at 157.49 × 75.25 × 8.79mm and 206g. POCO notes that lab data and real-world results may vary.

POCO lists IP68 resistance, but the test conditions are narrow. The phone was tested in static freshwater up to 1.5m deep for up to 30 minutes under a specified temperature difference. POCO warns that real-world conditions differ and advises against using the phone at the beach or in a pool. Resistance can also decline with wear or damage. Do not describe or treat this phone as waterproof for everyday water exposure.
Quick Recap
What to check before you buy
- Model and region: confirm the listing is the POCO F9 Pro 5G, in your region, with the storage configuration and colour you want.
- Colour: POCO’s FAQ says available colours vary by country or region, so Aurora Green may not be offered everywhere.
- Price and launch offers: not verified in these sources. Compare current local prices and check the seller and stock.
- Box contents: the UK listing confirms no adapter is included. Check the box contents for your market before assuming a charger, case or cable is in the package.
- Software support: the duration of software updates is not verified in these sources. Check the official POCO or Xiaomi support pages for your region.
- Accessories: a 100W PD adapter is the practical wired-charging choice. For a wireless charger, confirm 50W compatibility. For a case, confirm the fit for your exact model.
Who this phone suits
- Gamers who want high refresh rate and strong performance on paper, with one reported 60fps test to support it.
- Photographers who value telephoto and ultra-wide flexibility, with image quality to be judged from samples.
- Buyers who want fast charging and can supply or buy a 100W adapter.
- Buyers who only want the glow should be cautious. The finish is subtle, and the rest of the phone is what carries the purchase.
