Pluribus is Apple TV’s science-fiction drama from Vince Gilligan, starring Rhea Seehorn. Its premise turns an optimistic idea on its head: Apple says “the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” The 99% Rotten Tomatoes score is a dated snapshot, while the show’s second season was part of an initial two-season order announced before its premiere—not a later renewal.
What is Pluribus about?
Apple’s official logline is the clearest guide to the series: “The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” It establishes the central contrast—a deeply unhappy protagonist facing a world defined by happiness—without giving away additional plot details.
Vince Gilligan created the science-fiction drama and is credited by Apple as its writer, director, and executive producer. Rhea Seehorn stars, with Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga also among the named stars. Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte appear as guest stars. Sony Pictures Television produces the series. Apple’s series page lists the official credits.

Was it renewed for a second season?
Not in the usual sense of a renewal announced after a successful first season. Apple’s pre-premiere materials said Pluribus had been picked up in a two-season order. Apple later described the series as already picked up for a second season, but that wording refers to the same early commitment—not a separate post-premiere renewal. Apple’s October 2025 announcement and its series page provide the relevant context.

What does the 99% Rotten Tomatoes score mean?
Rotten Tomatoes’ Apple TV browse page labeled September 2026 displayed a 99% Tomatometer score for Pluribus. The same page showed a 68% Popcornmeter score. These are separate measures: the Tomatometer reflects critics’ reviews, while the Popcornmeter reflects audience ratings. The figures describe what the page displayed at that time and can change; they are not permanent scores or a guarantee that every viewer will enjoy the series. The page did not establish the review or audience-rating counts behind the figures.
